Mannen is a Mountain at 8370 Leknes, Norway

Mannen is a mountain on the island of Vestvågøy in Lofoten, rising steeply above the beaches of Haukland and Uttakleiv on the Norwegian Sea coast west of Leknes. Its slopes are built of ancient hard rock, worn smooth by ice and scored by scree, with bare, treeless flanks that fall sharply to the shore. From the ridge the view opens over pale sand, turquoise water and the scattered skerries offshore, and the short walk up from Haukland makes it one of the most popular vantage points in western Lofoten. In the brief summer the surrounding slopes carry grass, heather and grazing sheep, while snow covers the mountain for much of the rest of the year. At around 68°N, well inside the auroral zone, its skies darken through the winter months, and the northern lights are seen often above the peak and the sea beyond it.

The aurora season here runs from September to March, with the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights in September, October, February and March. With minimal light pollution, Mannen could offer a dramatic backdrop for aurora viewing.
