Hauklandsstranda is a beach on the west coast of Vestvågøy in Lofoten, tucked into a sheltered bay below the peak of Mannen. It is one of the best-known beaches in the islands, a broad arc of white sand meeting clear, pale-blue water, with green slopes and steep mountains closing it in on either side. The bay faces roughly west toward the open sea, which leaves a clean horizon for the northern lights on dark winter nights at this latitude. A campground and parking sit just behind the dunes, and a short coastal path leads over to the neighbouring beach at Uttakleiv. Swimmers, walkers and campervans fill the place through the light summer months. Snow and frost reach the shore for much of the rest of the year, and the aurora is seen often over the water once the season turns.

  • This is a long and beautiful beach with very soft sand. The water is very clear and turquoise. During summer this is a good spot to enjoy the midnight sun!
