Junkerfjellet is a Mountain in Norway

Junkerfjellet is one of the summits on the fell that rises behind Bodø, in Nordland in northern Norway. It is a walker’s hill. Reached along the marked paths that climb from the Rønvik side of town, its top gives a fine sweep over the city, the sea and the ranks of coastal peaks, the same wide outlook that draws people to neighbouring Keiservarden. The going is open upland of heath and bare rock, easy in summer and a snowshoe or ski route once winter sets in. Bodø sits just north of the Arctic Circle at around 67°N, well inside the auroral zone. A short climb up here lifts you clear of the town lights onto open ground, and on a dark, clear winter night the northern lights spread over the sea and mountains beyond.
