Norsk Luftfartmuseum is a Museum at Olav V gate, 8004 Bodø, Norway

Norsk Luftfartsmuseum, the Norwegian Aviation Museum, is the national museum of flight, in Bodø in Nordland. Seen from above, the building is shaped like a giant propeller. Its two long wings, one for civil aviation and one for military, meet at an old airport control tower that visitors can climb for a view over the city and airfield. The collection fills the halls with aircraft, from early flimsy biplanes and seaplanes to jet fighters, telling the story of how flying opened up a long, mountainous and often roadless country. Bodø was a front-line air base through the Cold War, and among the prized exhibits is a genuine U-2 spy plane, a reminder that the town was the intended destination of the American pilot Gary Powers when he was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960. Hands-on displays and a flight simulator make it popular with families. It is comfortably the biggest attraction of its kind in the north.
