Rønvikfjellet is a Mountain in Bodø, Norway

Rønvikfjellet is the mountain that rises straight up behind Bodø, in Nordland in northern Norway. It is the city’s back garden. The fell climbs from the Rønvik district on the edge of town to a broad, open upland of heath, bog and bare rock, and it is here that Bodø comes to play, walking and running the marked paths in summer, skiing and sledging in winter. Its heights hold the best-known viewpoints in the area, Keiservarden among them, from where the panorama takes in the city, the sea and a long line of coastal peaks. A road climbs part of the way, and there is a small ski slope on the lower flanks. Bodø lies just north of the Arctic Circle at around 67°N, well inside the auroral zone, and a short climb up Rønvikfjellet lifts you clear of the town lights, out onto open ground with a wide horizon where the northern lights show clearly on a dark winter night.
