Abiskojåkka is a River in Abisko, Sweden, located in Abisko National Park

Abiskojåkka, known in Sámi as Ábeskoeatnu, is the river that gives Abisko National Park its name. It runs down from the mountains and lakes of the interior to empty into the great lake Torneträsk. In its final stretch it has carved a striking canyon through the bedrock, a narrow gorge of sheer, layered walls where the water rushes through in falls and pools, at its wildest during the early-summer snowmelt. Footbridges and paths cross and follow the gorge close to the Abisko mountain station, making it one of the park’s most accessible and photographed features, and the river marks the start of the Kungsleden as it heads south. The canyon lies in prime aurora country, at around 68°N within the clear skies of the Abisko blue hole. On dark winter nights the northern lights arc overhead, watched from the bridges and riverbanks above the frozen gorge.
