Cable Car (Fjellheisen) is a Cable Car in Tromsø, Norway

The Fjellheisen cable car carries you high above Tromsø in a matter of minutes. It runs from the mainland shore, across the sound from the island city, up to the Storsteinen ledge at around 420 metres. From the viewing platform at the top the whole of Tromsø spreads out below, its island wrapped in fjords and framed by snow-capped peaks, with the midnight sun circling the horizon in summer. A restaurant and café share the summit, and marked paths lead off into the fells for those who want to walk further. It is one of the finest viewpoints in northern Norway, day or night. After dark the cable car comes into its own. Tromsø sits at around 70°N, deep inside the auroral zone, and lifted clear of much of the city glow with an open northern horizon, Storsteinen is among the most popular places anywhere to watch the northern lights dance over the fjords and the lights of the town below.
