Hrunalaug is a Hot Spring in Iceland

Hrunalaug is a small, natural geothermal pool tucked into the countryside near Flúðir in southwest Iceland, not far from the Golden Circle route. Unlike the more commercial hot springs in the area, Hrunalaug is a quiet, rustic spot, a stone-lined pool fed by naturally heated water, set against a backdrop of open farmland and distant mountains. The pool is on private land and a small donation is requested for bathing. It has a simple changing hut and little else, which is part of its appeal. The water temperature varies but is generally comfortably warm, and the pool is small enough to feel like a genuine hidden gem rather than a tourist attraction. On clear winter nights, the combination of warm water, dark skies and minimal light pollution makes Hrunalaug a memorable spot for stargazing, and, when conditions are right, for watching the Northern Lights from the water.

  • The greatest part of our trip! Natural geothermal spring was an amazing time to unwind. Very clean and well maintained. Relaxed for over an hour in the hot water. Be sure to pay in the landowners box.

  • You see a sign there that you have to pay 1000ISK for the bathing..despite of this sy came at 11pm that this is a privat property&we need to leave it:(..the place was really great,we really loved it:)
