The Pump House is a steakhouse on the bank of the Chena River in Fairbanks, set in a restored gold-rush-era pumping station. The historic building is decorated with relics of that mining past and centres on an ornate mahogany bar. A surf and turf specialist, it serves food Alaskan style, pairing the freshest ingredients with the state's culinary heritage, from prime aged beef to fresh Alaskan seafood, all with a view over the water.

The aurora season here runs from August to April, with the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights in September, October, February and March. Fuel up at The Pump House and then head out under the night sky in search of the aurora.

  • Ronald Reagan ate here in 1983! We are all very proud of that fact here in Fairbanks. Avoid the Glacier ale, stick to the Alaskan Amber or Summer instead. Wave to the sternwheelers as they pass by
