Hverir is a Hot Spring at Námaskarðsvegur, Reykjahlíð, Iceland, located in Námaskarð

Hverir is a geothermal field at the foot of Námafjall near Lake Mývatn, a raw, otherworldly place of hissing steam vents and bubbling mud pots. The ground glows in ochre, red and yellow, bare of plant life, and the smell of sulphur hangs in the air. Boardwalks and marked paths lead among the fumaroles, a vivid reminder of the volcanic forces at work just beneath Iceland's surface.
