Silverfallet is a Waterfall and Scenic Lookout at 981 93 Björkliden, Sweden, located in Abisko National Park

Silverfallet, the Silver Fall, tumbles down a rocky gorge in the mountains above Björkliden, a small ski and mountain resort in Swedish Lapland. It stands on the northern shore of Torneträsk, a short way west of Abisko. Meltwater from the surrounding fells feeds the falls, which break into bright silver ribbons and give the spot its name, with a scenic lookout beside the water. In summer the slopes are green and laced with hiking paths, looking out over the vast blue lake and the U-shaped notch of Lapporten on the far shore. In winter the falls freeze into pillars of ice. Björkliden shares the clear, dry skies of the Abisko blue hole, at around 68°N and with little light nearby, so the aurora shows readily here. On dark, cloudless nights it arcs over the frozen falls and the great sweep of the lake below.

The aurora season here runs from September to March, with the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights in October, February and March. With minimal light pollution, Silverfallet could offer a dramatic backdrop for aurora viewing.
