Kirkjufjara is a black sand beach tucked beneath the cliffs near Dyrhólaey, west of Vík. Hemmed in by tall rock walls and open to the full force of the Atlantic, it is a wild and beautiful spot, though its dangerous waves and rockfall mean access is often closed for safety. When open, it offers a dramatic view of the towering sea cliffs and crashing surf.
