The Spitsbergen Airship Museum in Longyearbyen is devoted to the history of polar exploration by airship and balloon from Svalbard. A densely packed collection of photographs, documents and objects recalls the attempts to reach the North Pole by air in the early twentieth century, including the expeditions of Andrée, Wellman, Amundsen and Nobile. A characterful museum for anyone drawn to the heroic era of Arctic flight.
