Huset is a Scandinavian Restaurant and Wine Bar at PO Box 434, 9171 Longyearbyen, Svalbard and Jan Mayen

Huset is one of Longyearbyen's grand old institutions, a 1950s community building above the town that now holds a celebrated restaurant and one of the largest wine cellars in the Nordic countries. Its fine-dining menu makes the most of Arctic ingredients, from Svalbard reindeer to seabird and seal, matched with remarkable wines. There is a more casual bistro too, and the old hall still hosts the town's films and events.

Aurora hunting in Longyearbyen?

The aurora season here runs from October to February, with the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights in November, December and January. Fuel up at Huset and then head out under the night sky in search of the aurora.
