Kätkänranta Saunabaari is a sauna bar on the shore of Lake Immeljärvi, set between two fells about a kilometre from the centre of Levi. In winter it offers a proper Arctic sauna experience: heat up in the 70°C sauna, brave a dip in the frozen lake and then warm through again with a hot drink by the beach bar. You can roast marshmallows over the campfire and, on a clear night, watch for the northern lights. Come summer it turns into a lakeside beach spot, with sun loungers on the sand, paddleboards and rowing on the lake and Friday pit-roast rosvopaisti evenings. Levi lies at around 68°N, deep in the auroral zone, and the open lakeshore makes a wonderful place to catch the aurora on a dark winter evening.
