Luossavaara is a mountain rising right beside Kiruna, a small ski hill in winter and an easy climb with sweeping views the year round. From the top the eye takes in the town, the great iron mine and the surrounding fells. Close to the centre yet high and open, it is one of the handiest places in Kiruna to watch the northern lights, at around 68°N deep in the auroral zone.
