Bird Point is a scenic lookout on the Seward Highway, jutting into Turnagain Arm between Anchorage and Girdwood. A short paved path leads out to viewing platforms over the water, a good vantage for the bore tide, for passing wildlife and for the long views down the arm to the surrounding peaks. It is a popular stop for photographs and a rest on the drive south. On a clear, dark night the open outlook over the water also lends itself to watching for the northern lights.

The aurora season here runs from September to April, with the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights in October, February and March. The natural setting around Bird Point makes it a wonderful spot to watch for the Northern Lights.
