Aurora Village is a Campground at Cassidy Point, Yellowknife Northwest Territories X1A 1T7, Canada

Aurora Village exists for one thing: the northern lights. It is a purpose-built aurora-viewing camp at Cassidy Point, on a dark lakeshore a short drive from Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories of Canada. Some twenty heated teepees are ringed around the site, warm refuges where guests can thaw between spells of watching the sky. When the aurora appears, the whole camp steps outside. Away from the town, at around 62°N almost directly beneath the auroral oval, the darkness is deep and the horizon wide, and the lights are seen here on a remarkable number of clear nights. There is more than just watching, though. The village serves hot food and drinks, runs an evening programme through the aurora season, and in winter offers dog-sledding, snowshoeing and rides on heated seats that turn slowly to follow the sky. It is one of the best-known places in the world to see the aurora in comfort.
