Medicine Lake is a curious body of water in the Maligne valley near Jasper, famous for seeming to vanish. It has no visible outlet; instead the water drains away through sinkholes into one of the largest underground river systems in the world, so the lake fills in summer and all but empties by winter. Ringed by mountains and often busy with wildlife, it is a fascinating stop on the road to Maligne Lake.
