Elderberry Park is a small waterfront park at the western end of downtown Anchorage. It runs down to the shore of Cook Inlet, with a playground, lawns and benches looking out over the water to the mountains. The historic Oscar Anderson House, one of the city's oldest wood-frame homes, stands at its edge as a museum. The coastal trail passes through, and trains rumble by on the rail line below, making it an easy and pleasant pause close to the city centre.

The aurora season here runs from September to April, with the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights in October, February and March. The open spaces around Elderberry Park can provide unobstructed views of the Northern Lights.
