Reykjadalur is a Hot Spring in Hveragerði, Iceland
Reykjadalur (Steam Valley) is a geothermally active valley near the town of Hveragerði in southwest Iceland, best known for its naturally heated river where visitors can bathe outdoors surrounded by steaming hillsides. Reaching the river requires a roughly 3.5 km hike each way along a well-marked trail that winds uphill through a landscape of bubbling mud pots, fumaroles and small hot springs. At the top, a section of the river has been dammed with rocks to create a bathing area where the geothermal water mixes with cold stream water, producing a comfortable temperature. Wooden boardwalks and simple privacy screens line the bank for changing. The hike is manageable for most fitness levels and takes around 45 minutes each way. Reykjadalur is only about 45 minutes’ drive from Reykjavík, making it one of the most accessible natural hot spring experiences in Iceland. The valley can be busy on summer weekends, but in the darker months, when the surrounding hills are dusted with snow and the crowds thin out, it becomes a far quieter and more atmospheric place to soak under open skies.

It is for sure worth to walk 3,5 km one way uphill there :-)! Bring towel and swimsuit with you. On the way back, if there will be strong wind, it will dry before you will reach the parking lot.

Beautiful hot springs, can get a little crowded thought. 3.2km hike, the trail is very straight forward to this gorgeous hot springs.
