Laugardalslaug is the largest swimming pool in Reykjavík, in the green Laugardalur valley. Fed by the city's geothermal water, it has indoor and outdoor pools, a slide, hot tubs, a steam bath and a saltwater pool, drawing families, swimmers and bathers all year round. Public pools are the beating heart of Icelandic social life, and this is the biggest and busiest of them all.

  • Amazing waterslide. Heated pools at various temperatures, including a cold water plunge. Definitely worth a visit. Just be sure to shower properly!

  • Don't forget the steam bath at the left hand side outside. No need to bring coins for the lockers. Be prepared: Icelanders take their shower naked in front of everyone, so when in Rome...
