Immeljärvi is a Lake in Sirkka, Finland

Immeljärvi is a quiet lake in Finnish Lapland, in the village of Sirkka just southwest of the Levi ski resort. It is the calmer neighbour of the busier Levijärvi. Wooden holiday cabins and lodges are scattered discreetly among the pines along its shore, and a well-loved nature trail loops right around the water, boardwalked in places, taking an easy hour or two on foot. In summer people swim, fish and paddle here; in winter the frozen surface becomes part of the ski and snowshoe network, and huskies and reindeer pass by on guided tours. Being a short step away from the bright centre of Levi, Immeljärvi keeps darker skies. At around 68°N, well inside the auroral zone, it is a favourite local spot to watch for the northern lights, which on clear winter nights glow over the frozen lake and the surrounding fells with little to compete against them.
