The Columbia Icefield lies along the spectacular Icefields Parkway at the southern edge of Jasper National Park, the largest ice field in the Rockies. The Athabasca Glacier flows down from it almost to the road, and visitors can ride out onto the ice in giant all-terrain Ice Explorers or walk a glass-floored skywalk cantilevered over a sheer drop. A rare and humbling chance to stand on an ancient, slowly melting glacier.
