The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center is the natural first stop for anyone arriving in Fairbanks, on the bank of the Chena River in the middle of town. Part visitor centre, part free museum, it gathers exhibits on the land, wildlife and Native cultures of Interior Alaska, with recreated scenes of life in the north through the seasons. Staff help with trip planning, and the centre hosts talks and cultural events. It is named for Morris Thompson, an Athabascan leader from the region.

It's a very cool, the staff are attentive. There's a souvenirs shop, small museum, sightseeing tips and worth the trip.
