Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park, established in 1885 around the hot springs on Sulphur Mountain, and the jewel of the Canadian Rockies. Soaring peaks, glaciers, forests and startlingly turquoise lakes like Louise and Moraine draw visitors from around the world, and wildlife from elk and bighorn sheep to grizzly bears roams the valleys. The town of Banff sits at its heart as a base for hiking, skiing and sightseeing amid some of the most celebrated mountain scenery on earth.
